CivicHaven promotes positive mental wellness and resilience in times of political stress. It is non-partisan and for informational purposes.
CivicHaven’s soon-to-launch web and iOS apps help people understand political issues and how they can elicit negative reactions such as toxic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CivicHaven’s primary feature is a chat agent that is trained to recognize users’ concerns and address negativity evoked by political and news media.
The app helps users address specific issues and media, understand the facts, and explore possible reasons why the media elicits an emotional and cognitive reaction. CivicHaven then offers ideas on alternative ways of thinking about negativity in the news and healthy perspectives on users’ concerns.
Our Users
CivicHaven users seek a news environment free from misinformation, bias, partisanship, sensationalism, manipulation and gaslighting, gossip, clickbait, AI slop, and other distortions.
CivicHaven is not trying to change political news media. How media outlets present themselves is their own business.
Instead, CivicHaven focuses on us, the media consumer, and offers a healthier way of engaging with media. Ideally, this means taking in political news without being traumatized by it–without being emotionally provoked, manipulated, or deceived.
Our users come to CivicHaven to understand and verify the news without upsetting their peace of mind. They prefer dependable data with reasonable and forthright interpretations. That’s the CivicHaven approach to media.
